Addictions and ANE

Posted on Feb 18, 2009 11:55 AM

Anyone out there using Tolle's suggestions for dealing with addictions and finding them helpful besides me.? I have sought many solutions for compulsive behavior and obsessive thinking regarding food, eating, weight, and tv. I was in 12 step programs for the food/weight stuff, but the labeling and some of the other ideas didn't work for me. Tolle's approach seems worth reflecting upon and putting into practice. I have been remembering to follow some of his suggestions and yesterday I did not turn the tv on once and I ate moderately and even shopped for pants even though... well I still think my hips could be smaller. Anyway, I am celebrating and wondering if there is anyone to rejoice in any of this with me. Or if anyone would like some support in dealing with addictions ANE way.

Hi beingggggg, great to hear you are in the now on your de-addiction journey. I too am concentrating on coming back to the now with my full attention and I agree it is a great space to be in here hearing the ways to be in the now.

2 weeks now for me with 2 tiny slips to my addiction, and it was a purposeful, aware, slip, conscious of my body and how it felt before and after my slip. When it was enough, it was enough. Being in the now has removed for me the need for my former addiction. I no longer need to be self medicated, it is very freeing.

love to you

Thank you, beingggggg, Theresa, angelsbe2 and all, for the invitation to become consciously aware of my egoic patterns with food, especially sweets and peanut butter.

Love,

Good morning to all, :x

Thanks, angelsbe2, for the gift of your support.

Thank you, cibspace. Even though I have read ANE at least 3 times, that quote is not one that stood out to me, but it does now.

Yesterday, I watched some compulsive behavior take over and run its course (eating, tv). Right now, I am sharing this in order to remind myself not to make a problem of it, but to include it in my awareness practice. I am free in this moment. There are no compulsive urges, and I accept the memory of yesterday as a part of this moment even though I do not find some of it enjoyable.

What I do find enjoyable and contributing to great happiness is>>> present time awareness of the breath--the least thing--something that could very easily go unnoticed if I made something that happened yesterday a problem right now. I am thankful to be consciously aware of this moment with its sights, sounds, smells, etc. I am thankful to be consciously aware of thoughts and emotions, of that voice in the head doing its thing.

I am thankful for this space to share and to be.

May we all enjoy the freedom that is available to us each moment as we recognize that the "dreamer is consciousnes itself--who you are", as discover the greatest happiness in the least and most readily available thing -- each fully conscious breath.

Love,

beingggggg

Hi angelsbe,

I hope all is well with your computer and the message board.

Your avatar is so beautiful. It speaks to me so clearly of vibrant Life and Love. And gazing in awe, I say, "thanks."

All is well in my world today. This thread has now reached over 1000 posts. Probably most are mine and I continue to benefit from the opportunity to check in, to read, to post, to take a conscious breath.

Before coming here, I had never posted on an on-line message board anywhere, and this is the first thread that I ever started. I have such a passion for BEINGGGGGGGGGGG and sharing the joy of it. There is no addiction in BEINGGGGGGGGGGG. There are no problems right NOW.

This space is such a gift and I celebrate this moment where I have the opportunity to stop in and say Hi and thanks to all posters and viewers... one more time.

Light and Love and Harmony to all,

beingggggg

Hi beingggggg, thanks, you should smell the rose, it is truly beautiful and there are plenty more in my garden. I am happy for you in your well world. Congratulations on 1000 posts, I wonder how many addictions have been helped by coming here? I feel so much better after leaving mine behind, but will dip my toe in the pool every now and then as a novelty not a necessity and only in a very small dose...lol

You are so right, there are no problems right NOW and I reflect light, love and harmony back at you. Peace

and yes thank you my computer or "A New Earth" part of the message board is working fine now. yesterday I could go to every other section easily and normally but every time I went to "A New Earth" it was ridiculously slow and convoluted. That was then, this is now and it's all good....lol
