Is the HCG Diet for REAL?

Posted on Jul 27, 2009 1:33 PM

Many people in my area are using the pregnancy hormone (HCG) diet to lose weight, and they have been very successful with it. I still have reservations about taking a drug and eating only 500 calories a day. Is this healthy? Does the HCG Diet really work? and can you keep off the weight after stopping the medication?

Hi, I have struggled with so many diets in my life. I am on the HCG diet sublingual drops and in 10 week I am 60 pounds down! I have never felt so good along with having such great results. I am 48 years old and haven't felt this good in years. I went to hcgbuydirect online and it was a very reasonable price. I also have arthritis in both my knees due to being overweight and I would say now 85 percent of my pain is gone! I feel just wonderful. So for me hcg works. take care, HCG Diet Girl :)

I tried it and it gave me mirgrain head aches. If you are only eating 500 calories a day, of course you will lose weight. I was under a dr care while doing it also. It just did not work for me and made me very, very, very, sick. If you have any blood surgar problems it really effects you because you eat NOTHING in the AM. Veg and 100 oz of uncooked chicken, or white fish, for lunch and evening meal. I small apple in between. That is all you eat for 6 weeks. Now tell me who is not going to lose weight on that. Sorry, take it from me save your money for another way out. This does not work in the "REAL" food world.

I disagree...I have been using HCG to lose weight and so have MANY of my friends. We are all doing great! There is an entire Youtube community that talks about how great HCG is and how to stay on track. The very low calorie diet (VLCD) is for anywhere between 21 and 43 days and then you up your calories. The HCG makes you not hungry at all because it releases your irregular fat into your body and then you urinate the fat right away. It is the greatest thing I have ever tried. If you got very sick, maybe you have other health issues, but being fat isn't good for your blood sugar either. As for eating nothing in the morning, I ate my apple for breakfast everyday and it totally satisfied me. The protocol absolutely works if you follow it. Most people who fail while under the protocol try and modify the protocol to their own wants, not needs. Good luck in your diet searches but this diet totaly works in the "REAL" food world. It just depends what you CHOOSE to eat. You cannot continue to put junk in your body and exect to lose weight.

I too will disagree with the comments that this diet does not work. I was skeptical at first and am a RN and was especially intrigued with the use of a pregnancy hormone to lose weight. I started the diet at a medical weight loss clinic, first starting with a two week cleanse and then the injections, I am acutually on the downhill side of the injections and only have about 2 weeks left. I started at 208.6 and am now 187.4, a little over 20 pounds. I would be a little lower but have "cheated" a little here and there. I have not exercised and I am not one of those people who lose weight by starving myself...in fact I usually gain with the starvation kind of diets. The amazing part is that the fat on my abdomen and hips is really melting off and I can wear medium scrub pants now when I wear large to extra large, and the med are even a little loose. I am glad I gave this diet a chance and plan on doing another round when after my rest period. If you are really serious about wanting to lose weight and keep it off, I feel like this is the cure. Read Dr Simeons manuscript "pounds and inches it really explains it very well. He really researched this very well.
