Being Gay Is A Gift From God????

I am based in the U.K. and watched the Oprah show this morning with the spiritual leaders. I have to say that I am not one to judge as I am a firm believer of judge not so that ye not be judged and I believe that God is the ultimate judge. However, I just don't understand where the leaders got the idea that being gay is a gift from God. Just as Oprah said she had never heard such from a minister before I have to say "ditto". I even had to refer to my bible for confirmation and there it was in Levicticus 18...especially verse 22....but it is a good idea to read the whole chapter. We expect spiritual men of God to give us good advice in line with the word of God and unless these men can show me a scripture that tells us that being gay is a gift from God then I have no choice but to disagree with what they have said and pray that the man who was seeking help will find the right person to steer him in the right direction. In fact I have a feeling that Oprah herself is probably expecting people to write in regarding this issue, judging from her reaction to the statement when it was made. Other than that I have to say that the programme was very interesting and helpful. Now, befeore I start getting negative responses from non xtians, can I say that my comment has come about because that statement was made by ministers....men of God...who lead congregations based on the word of God.

Being gay IS a gift from God. I am a minister, and after Divinity School and a lot of study and prayer, I've learned that God created some of us gay.

But don't take my word for it. I suggest we all study the Bible for ourselves, and that we love each other. Also, very important to study the history of how and when the Bible, and to learn about Christian history. What did Martin Luther say about how to approach the Bible? What is Calvin say? What did Thomas Aquinas say and Peter Abelard? There are so many wonderful things to learn!

In The Beginning though God created, Adam and Eve, and not Adam and Steve. And we know, that "gay" goes against God, and the natural order. Sin is in everyone, and it takes many different forms. God requires, that we not just love, but He, requires holiness. The Book Of Leviticus 18:22 Tells us that, thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

We affirm God's plan for marriage, and sexual intimacy_ one man, and one woman, for life. Homosexuality is not a " valid alternative lifestyle." The bible condemns it as sin. It is not, however, unforgiveable sin. The same redemption, that's available to all sinners, it is available, to homosexuals. All people need the ministry, and the guidance of the church, in their struggles, for human fulfillment.

As well as the spiritual and emotional care of fellowship, that enables, reconciling relationship with God, with others, and with self. So that, they, too may become, a new creation in Christ. But the " choice " of being gay_ it is not a gift from God, but inspite of our sin, God still loves all of us, unconditionally.

May God peace, and His grace be with all of us.

Sandra
