I am 63 years old and have NEVER penciled in my brows. I feel they are too thin however, everyone tells me to leave them alone. I color my gray hair (medium dark) and have highlights. Do you think I need to lightly color them in?? I originally had black hair and now it is a lighter shade with redish dark highlights.

Hi, I'm an aesthetician and I have clients for whom I tint their eyebrows on a regular basis. It looks better than penciling them in and lasts about 3 to 4 weeks.

To see if you may like your brows colored I suggest you buy a brow pencil close to your hair color, preferably a shade darker, and give it a try for a week or two.

Use short strokes to emulate hair and follow the direction of your natural hair growth then lightly smudge the lines with a q-tip or cotton ball. If you like it, ask your hair stylist or aesthetician about having your brows tinted so you don't have to fill them in every day.

Having said that, my question is: Do you feel your brows are too thin or that the hair
is too sparse? If the hair is too sparse you may need to use a
combination of tinting and brow pencil to fill in the gaps.

Hope this helps,

Ali
