I am one of his biggest fans and am so thrilled that Rick is going to be on Oprah.
According to his website, he's going to sing "Jessie's Girl".
The show may or may not air live on the 6th.
I've been a dedicated fan of Rick's since I was a teen in the '80s.
I know every song he's released and love them all; he's amazingly entertaining and dynamic
in concert. I attend as many as I can each year.
This goes way beyond the "Teen Idol Crush" that we've all had.
I truly resonate with Rick on a deep level. He's very spiritual (one album he released in the 80s was called "Tao" and he released "Karma" a few years back).
A lot of his songs helped me get through difficult times.
He's very generous with his fans when we meet him.
There was a young girl named Sahara Aldridge who who was terminally ill and Rick held many benefit concerts and did an ebay auction to raise funds for
her medical bills.
I"m a practitioner of "The Secret" and the law of attraction.
I used these principles to meet Rick again (last met him in the '80s) after a concert in Arlington Heights this fall.
Producers and everyone else reading, I would really love to be in the audience for the show on Wednesday and meet Rick again.
I am local so travel is not an issue.
I look forward to being at the show on Wednesday!
I've been a Rick fan since the 80's. I 've followed his carreer. He is absolutely awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!! He's more amazing now then he was back in the 80's. If I could pick a song it would have to be Affair of the heart......
WOOHOO! RICK SPRINGFIELD ON OPRAH! I have been praying to see this for years! I have been a Rick fan since the early 70's! Talk about bringing wonderful things into your life! I was 13, and saw a tiny picture, in Tigerbeat, (yes, I know, I admit, I read it! ), about an upcoming article in the next issue. I cut that picture out, I didn't quite know why, but somehow, It was like I knew him, somehow, but I couldn't have. I was a teenager in Illinois, and he was from Austrailia, and then California. He was 12 yrs older! Our paths would never cross. Not a possibility, tho in my mind, at 13, one day, I thought maybe I would marry him! lol He was my Paul McCartney Oprah! One Saturday, watching my baby sister, Kristina,( who I named, and who later became a Rick fan by osmosis, more later) so my Mother, could get some sleep. There was a particular cartoon, that was just capturing my attention, it had this guy, with a very interesting accent! The show was, Mission Magic, with Rick Springfield! Several yrs passed, I married another Rick, and left home. At 13, my little sister, came to me, with a song, "You have to hear this! It's fantastic, and the guy, is so cute!" IT WAS RICK! She is 10 yrs younger, and she had discovered him, at exactly the same age I had! Many years later, he did a song, called Kristina, Which of course is her favorite! Over the yrs, things have come and gone, good and bad, but whenever I need to reconnect, I get Rick reminders fron the universe! A song, on a station, that never plays him, a note from another Rick fan, (we are a very supportive and loyal group), or a mention of an upcoming show on Oprah! Thank you Oprah, for finally bringing Rick to your show! I am a big fan of both of yours! Two favorites in one place! It's a Two-fer! Rick is a very kind, gentle, wonderful, spiritual man, who has taught me much ,over the years, in many ways. He is a talented guitar player and lyricist, with a big heart, who believes in being the best you, you can be, and that we are here, to make the world a better place! I loved this man, at first sight, tho we had never met! 30 some years later, I still do! He just radiates! I have had the privilege of meeting very briefly, over the years-I had the most intense feeling of well-being and love, in his presence. You speak of an A-ha moment, he was my A-ha person! For some reason, the universe showed me that tiny picture, and my life has been so enriched! I have met so many great people over the years in the Rick community. My husband and family joke, about my other Rick, and give me a hard time about my getting my Springfield fix, but I am forever enthralled and enraptured by this man! He is very loved, by many, and will be a great guest on your show! All his fans, want the world to know how talented, and kind he is! We don't mind sharing! I read a saying, that I loved: it said, "You are to me a delicious torment! " better than a guilty pleasure, a delicious torment! lol That about sums it up for me! Thank you Oprah, Once you meet Rick, you will be hooked too! Wish I could be there with you, though, its probably already been taped. I tivo your show every day, so I will be sure to see it! Lisa Burlington, Wisconsin And yes, the sky, is the first thing you notice here!
Apparently the taping was on the 6th, not the airing. I ADORE Rick Springfield and can't wait to see when he's on. I was so happy he came back to General Hospital and find it incredibly exciting that he continues to release new cds! I bought his Christmas CD with a song dedicated to our troops "Christmas With You" and I was blown away. His talent, his gentleness, his voice, his creative lyrics - better than ever. I too have been a long time fan and love watching the discovery of his new work as I introduce it to my friends. Even girls who weren't fans in the 80s are now. He is great!
Rick will be on Tuesday Feb. 26th.
The taping was on the 6th (along with David Cassidy, the Cosby kids and Henry Winkler).
Oprah interviews him and he sings 2 songs.
It's a great show so enjoy!
According to his website, he should also be back on General Hospital in a few months.
He was on and he was, well, I guess I'd have to say...just WONDERFUL! The man just keeps getting better. How fun to hear "Jessie's Girl" and "Love Somebody" and Oprah rocked and sang along too. I loved today's show and yes, Rick Springfield is definitely my favorite celebrity - then and now!
THANK YOU OPRAH for having Rick Springfield on your show! As a fan of 36 years, it meant a lot to me to see Rick honored in such a way. It was such a treat to see him on the show. Thoroughly enjoyed watching the interview and the performance. A real winner overall ![]()
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for having Rick Springfield on today's show!!!! I Tivo Oprah every day, but I rushed home from work today so I could watch in real time & I was definitely not disappointed. I've been a fan since the 80's & travel to see Rick's concerts as often as possible-- My husband & I are even booked on the Rick Springfield & Friends Cruise in November--thank goodness I have a very supportive husband! It was so wonderful to see how relaxed Rick was & how the audience reacted to his performance. He ROCKED as usual! It's so nice to hear how deeply he values his family, I think that's part of his appeal. I'm so glad Rick could get a tiny bit of the recognition he deserves by being on the Oprah show. Again, thank you for having Rick on the show today--the only thing that would have been better would be to have been there in person! Sincerely, L. Ragan
I have been one of Rick Springfield's biggest fans since he first appeared on General Hospital in the 1980's. It was great to see him on Oprah's show tonight and hear him sing Jessie's Girl. It would have been great if I could have been there personally. My biggest dream is to be able to meet Rick Springfield.
What a great show and LONG overdue, especially since your primary target viewing audience is "of a certain age" and the individuals featured on the 2/26 show were so much a part of our lives growing up. Frankly, I'm very surprised that Rick Springfield hasn't been featured previously as he has a very loyal following of fans since the late 70's and early 80's. One of Rick's 1981 shows was my very first "rock" concert (I was 15), and recently I had an opportunity to attend one of his concerts at a local venue. What a fantastic and energetic performer he still is, and it's nice to know (thanks to your interview on the Oprah show) that Rick is a genuinely nice, thankful, humble, down-to-earth person whose family means so much to him. Thank you for having him as a guest, and please consider another interview with him in the future.
I have been a HUGE fan of Ricks for about 25 years now........I know that everyone was so excited to see Rick on Oprah (me included) but I'm not sure people realize that that hunky man that still looks amazing is close to 60 years old Crazy as that may sound. HE ROCKS still to this day, and gets better and better. He's truly an amazing inspriration to us adoring fans.
Man Rick......you're like a FINE WINE.......you get BETTER with age!!!!!! WE LOVE YOU RICK!!!!!!!!
THANKS OPRAH!!!!
