Oh My Gosh - I will never have a cold sandwich again - as long as I can help it.
I found out that making panini sandwiches doesn't exactly require a panini maker. We use our trusty George Foreman grill. It works the same way!
Making a panini is more than making a sandwich for lunch or breakfast for that matter - it's more like an entire meal squished between 2 deliciously toasted pieces of bread- But the toastiness is different than putting your bread in a toaster.
Try this (our favorite)....
Sour Dough Bread slices (we use sour dough wheat)
Sliced tomatoes
Sliced fresh whole milk mozzarella cheese
Pesto Sauce (we buy ours already made at Fresh n'Easy market)
optional - your own cooked meats, we've used sliced cooked chicken breast in the past. But - no meat is equally great! You can also experiment with different ingredients like avocado or sliced bell pepper. Anything will taste good.
Spread some pesto sauce on one slice of bread, layer the tomatos and mozzarella, layer with the next piece of bread and top that slice of bread with some slathered on olive oil.
Next put in your tabletop grill for about 3 minutes or so.
This is the best hot sandwich you'll ever have!!! Yummmmo!!!
