I'm so happy to hear that white tea has the same benefits of green tea. After hearing Dr Oz talk about green tea on previous episodes, I tried to incorporate it into my diet. As much as I tried, I couldn't develop a taste for it! I recently bought white tea and actually quite enjoy it; it's not nearly as "strong" as the green tea. So for those of you who can't get into the green tea - give the white stuff a try!
This is good to know. I agree with you. Now I have been on Prednisone about 15 years. My bones and teeth break. I hope you can say the exercises that can strengthen bones. I have been watching the show and was not participating. I have gained so much weight. My face looks young, but I feel old. Any advice?

I am from jamaica and as a little girl my Grangmother made us drink ginger tea, Cinnimon tea and nutmeg tea, and i still do, just a sprinkle of the nutmeg because its is very strong, but overall I love the ginger tea the best the green ginger root that is. We use all those item in the island that you spoke about today it is not new to the island folks.
To the blueberry lady- Chin up and hurray for you for getting up there and being an example for those of us that have the same negative life-style traits! I don't smoke anymore but I did for years too and it caused me health problems now. You're a gutsy lady and you have what it takes to quit. :DHere's hoping for you!
Hi...LOVE, LOVE LOVE, Dr. Oz. Your shows are always so interesting and informative.Even my husband pays attention when he's on. That in itself is pretty amazing. His friend also likes Dr. Oz.
About tea ... I have heard that red or roibos tea has more antioxidants than black/green/white tea and naturally has no caffeine. So I was surprised Dr. Oz did not mention it. Does any one know the facts about this?
I watched the show today. He never said anything about one a day vitamins. I take those. They show that they have more than required of Vitaman D, Calcium and Magnesium and DHA Omega's. I am trying to figure out if I still have to take the vitamins separately or will the One Day Multivitamins suffice. I could not tell the answer from the show.
I am a 43 year old female and have high blood pressure. I am on Aldomet 500mg BID. I asked my doctor if I should take baby aspirin and she said no since I am too young according to her to be at risk for heart disease. I wonder if I still take some baby aspirin (even only one) if that can be bad for me. I've read that taking some aspirin may not be that effective for women to prevent heart disease. We read some many contradictory studies that lead us being confused.
I keep hearing about how long it takes to fix whole-grain cereal. I have learned of a great way to do it and it takes no morning time at all! I use a "Crockette" - a small crockpot (should have an immersible removable liner!). I set it up with a timer before I go to bed, to turn on at about 2 a.m. I usually eat breakfast at around 8 a.m. and the cereal is all ready to eat, and has had the added advantage (I think?) of soaking for a while before it cooked. The mixture can be a lot fancier than you would have time to make every morning. I mix a "batch" of 3-4 types of grains - whatever kind strikes my fancy. I just learned about amaranth, which is supposed to be really healthy, and will try that when I can find it. I add ground flax seed, oat bran, chopped dried fruit like raisins, apples (especially good), dates, prunes, apricots, pears, etc. Also chopped nuts - almonds or walnuts usually -- mixing the nuts and grains gives you a complete protein, even without milk Mix all that up. I put 1 cup of the mix into sealable plastic bags (using a 1-Cup dry-measurement cup), add a little salt - 1/4-1/2 tsp -according to your taste, and put all the bags into my freezer. Then at night before I go to bed I just take out a bag and dump the grain mixture into my Crockette, add 2 cups of water, plug it into the timer set to go on at 2 a.m., and go to bed. Next morning I just dish up a bowl of cereal all cooked and waiting! I can add berries, applesauce, etc, for even more benefit. Some people like milk or soymilk, and some like it undiluted. 1 cup of dry grains can easily serve 4 people when cooked. If you add the fruit you get a really big bowl full - like one of those nice soup bowls styled like a tea cup - full of a delicious, healthy breakfast. One other thing that's good is to smear some peanut butter in the bottom of your bowl before you add the cereal, and then stir it in with the hot cereal. YUM!!
There is no mention of soybean nuts when Dr Oz talks about protein and fiber. You can gat a variety of flavours at the bulk food stores.
1/2 a cup eaten as a snack and sprinkled on salads adds a lttlie extra crunch to salads.
Are these healthy alternatives to whole wheat?
Thanks
