Are you FEB-U-WEARY? ***SLIPPER STOMPERS*** are FEB-U-READY to be FAB 'N FEB!

Posted on Feb 1, 2008 1:31 AM

Be FAB-U-READY to be FABULOUS in Feburary with FAB-u-licous meals and FAB-u-losing workouts!

If you're looking to lose weight and be great in '08, join us here at the Slipper Stompers Thread. We're the original Boot Camp group that was started almost three years ago. Some of us have been around since then, some for a year, some for a few months, and others for only a few weeks! We've lost anywhere from 10 pounds to over 100! We can offer volumes in information, advice, and support. We love "Newbies" (newcomers). They provide energy, focus, and remind us to keep it simple and stay with what works.

Motivation, encouragement, support, and information from each other keep us coming here. Some of us check in daily, others once or twice a month. The great thing is that there's always someone here that will give attention to your personal needs - from understanding healthy eating and getting yourself moving to understanding your emotional health and what triggers drive you to food or to stop exercising.

Each month, we choose a new "theme" focus. The month of Feburary is FEB-U-READY! And, the "U" is YOU! Follow this thread for the month! Keep coming back when you can...and never underestimate the importance of what you have to share, as well!

Good morning! :x I took a risk and acted on impulse. :0 I shortened the title. ;\ I was trying to get the title to look good and be easier to read at a glance. B-) Not sure I succeeeded. ?:| Unfortunately, you don't see the how the title will look until it gets posted. :-( If I had that advantage, I would have done it differently. (!)

I'm Feb-U-Ready to post my results.......

Today I am at 158 lbs., which means for the month of January I lost a total of 5 lbs.!!!! Not sure on inches lost, although my clothes do feel a little looser(is that a word?), we measure at Curves on Monday.

I also went to Curves again by myself and I am really enjoying it. I NEVER thought I would ever say I enjoy exercising.

I've been telling everyone that 2008 would be a good year!!!!

Can't wait to see the rest of the results. You girls rock!

Peace,

Rosa

Hi Rosa/ALL!

My wt is 139. I cant remember what I started Jan at but I know I lost it all fast and then, well...yes, I have had a late night toasted cheese sanwich or two this week. I have been really slow at work and have been reading the best life diet. Some interesting theories in there on why we get famished. I have been doing well with the ripped rotation but not buying the who muscle weighs more than fat thing. I think Mimi explained that one well. Mimi?

Any who, I had the dentist yesterday. Go back on Mon.

Congrats to all the big losers for the month. It's just the beginning...Keep up the good hard work. You are worth it.

Donna

PS-Luvz you Rosa!

Mornin, I wanted to respond, even though I'm not Mimi, to the whole muscle weighs more than fat concept. As I understand it, a pound of fat weighs EXACTLY the same as a pound of muscle. There are key differences, though. One difference is that if you take a tape measure and measure that pound of fat and compare it to the muscle, the muscle is SMALLER. (It still weighs 1 pound, though.) The second difference is that one pound of muscle burns many more calories than one pound of fat. This makes your body much more efficient in burning the fat when you build muscle. The sad news is (and I read the numbers somewhere but can't call it up right now) as you get older, your body loses a certain amount of muscle every year. This starts sometime in your 30's and continues on for women as they age. I'm almost 50, so I will have to work much harder to retain muscle, as well as build it, than a 30 year old would. So, that's my lesson on muscle versus fat.

Rosa, congrats on the 5 pounds. That's AWESOME!!!

Here are my results for January:

I went from 140.5 to 142, which on the surface looks bad. Here's the really cool part. I took my measurements and lost over 2 inches off my body. Here you go:

Bust (wah) lost 1/2 inch. :_|

Waist, lost 1/2 inch.

Abs/Hips, lost 1/4 inch.

Both thighs: 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch

Arms: 1/4 inch and zero inch.

So, I am doing something right. I would say that I'm converting fat to muscle by my calculations. In fact, I'll go further and say that not only am I doing that, I added muscle to my body because I am thinner but weigh more. It's the only explanation I can figure--okay, that or messed up scales. I don't think it's the scales, though.

Hope you all are feeling good about February. I'm fired up!

Susanne

Susanne-Excellent job explaining the muscle wt thing. I know it's true because even if I am a couple of pounds up-my clothes still fit at a higher wt.
