"Men and women are not prisoners of fate, but
only prisoners of their own minds. - Franklin D. Roosevelt

Are you always in somebody else's business? Do you think it's your responsibility to change the world? Do you carry the weight of the world on your shoulders? Do you think that every thing is about you? We are often so ego driven that we take everything personally. From unreturned phone calls, to random comments from the news. Many of us have created this self centered world that keeps us stressed, crazed and out of balance.
The danger of egoic thinking is that you become so self-absorbed that you lose alignment with the Universe. Your thinking becomes skewed and your ability to reason and think logically gets reduced. Once you are no longer thinking properly, your environment follows suit and you slip into living a defensive lifestyle. When you live a defensive lifestyle you are always a consumer and you are always reacting instead of creating. You are no longer in control of your life.
You become like a fighter in the ring waiting for your next opponent. You spend your time focused on your next fight. The Universe gives us what we focus on, so if you are focused on fighting, that's what you'll get. Every time the bell rings, you will think it's your fight or, in other words, that every thing is ABOUT YOU.
Tune in to what you appreciate and not what you don't like or what you don't want. Stop talking about what you don't want. Start talking about what you want, appreciate and how you will feel when those things come in to fruition. Do not focus on people, places or things that you do not want or that are not good for you. If you need to make a decision or plan for the future, for example, do just that. Perform your analysis, understand what you don't want but focus on what you do want. If a person needs help, help them; but don't dwell on the negative details of their life. Be empathetic but don't take ownership of or claim what you don't want.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but every thing is NOT about you. Every time the bell rings it is not your fight. So the next time you find yourself stressing or obsessively worrying about something that has nothing to do with you; think about the chaos and disorder you are inviting in to your life.
