In my spare time, I have been reading Pillars of the Earth which I took out at the library where I volunteer at. It is a 7 day loan, so each week I return it and hope no one takes it out after it is put back on the shelf. So far, so good I've managed taking it back off the shelf after looking around for other materials I need when I help young children improve their reading skills.
The book isn't difficult, it is divided into 6 parts, each part is like a book in itself. I love the writer's descriptive words and intricate details of characters and places of the villages and towns. At times the description of war is too graphic for me. I realize how frightening it is for many people in different countries experiencing civil war today.
The trials of each character and how they cope with set backs in their endeavour to attain or achieve their destiny and/or dream.
I did look at the section on Ken Follet's Guide to the book on Oprah.com and found it informative and a great guide for reading with questions that help a person comprehend the novel he has written.
Will King Stephen be defeated? He had a bad omen as he was preparing his army. I'll find out the answer tonight...
