I have completed reading Pillars of the Earth!!!

A very descriptive novel about different levels of society, from the poorest to the richest. From monarchy to religious leaders and their roles in civil war to trades people and their part. How civil war changes a person's status. The intricate details of building a cathedral that is unique and different from all the others.

This novel is fiction with some historical truths and way of life in Medieval times.

Truth, Justice and how a true christian handled someone who had ordered an executiion.

All in a novel.

What People Call Deja Vu?

Posted on Feb 19, 2008 12:33 PM

Have you ever experienced what people call deja vu? Last night while watching the prelude to "To Kill a Mockingbird" on my computer, where you see a hand colouring and drawing and looking in a box with a child's crayons and prized possessions such as marbles, a watch, harmonica and a dark coloured wooden doll.

When I had turned six years old, I stayed with some special people who I thought were guardian angels. They worked in the entertainment industry and I was taken everywhere in three weeks while they worked or looked for work. One way they could keep me still was drawing and colouring and I didn't mind at all. I had those same things and I'd talk to people when they asked me questions.

A quote from yesterday's Oprah Show "A person is a person no matter how small" by Dr. Seus.

My mom's favourite qoute to me "Big things come in small packages" and "count your blessings" when I'm sad.

I now know why it is important to me to remember because it'll help others.

My Own Copy of ....

Posted on Feb 14, 2008 3:58 PM

It is Valentine's Day and my husband has taken me out for lunch. It was a Chinese Buffet and I enjoyed everything I put on my plate. Shrimp, sushi, mussels, salads, dumplings...the different deserts.

To walk off the meal we went to the book store and we purchased "Pillars of the Earth". I'm returning the library's copy as today is the seventh day and I have finished part 3.

Civil war isn't right...and it seems any reason can start a war between people.

Economics, pride, revenge, control, power.....with so much twists and turns of events will the cathedral be finished.... If you want to know the answers you should read the book. I'm still reading and tonight I'll start Part 4.

Motto at our home when the children were growing up. "Education is important and there is always money for books!!"

Spare Time - Reading Pillars of the Earth

Posted on Feb 11, 2008 2:19 PM

In my spare time, I have been reading Pillars of the Earth which I took out at the library where I volunteer at. It is a 7 day loan, so each week I return it and hope no one takes it out after it is put back on the shelf. So far, so good I've managed taking it back off the shelf after looking around for other materials I need when I help young children improve their reading skills.

The book isn't difficult, it is divided into 6 parts, each part is like a book in itself. I love the writer's descriptive words and intricate details of characters and places of the villages and towns. At times the description of war is too graphic for me. I realize how frightening it is for many people in different countries experiencing civil war today.

The trials of each character and how they cope with set backs in their endeavour to attain or achieve their destiny and/or dream.

I did look at the section on Ken Follet's Guide to the book on Oprah.com and found it informative and a great guide for reading with questions that help a person comprehend the novel he has written.

Will King Stephen be defeated? He had a bad omen as he was preparing his army. I'll find out the answer tonight...

A Fitting Tribute for Martin Luther King Jr.

Posted on Feb 7, 2008 10:23 AM

I was impressed by the Tribute to Martin Luther King Jr., in that, a young generation is being taught to accept people for who they are. It was referred to as a "generation that is colour blind".

Let everyone hope that we continue to move forward by example and not segregate, or blame one another for what our ancestors did or didn't do.

History seems to repeat itself, we can live together in harmony and that is also part of history.":x" Let's move two steps forward instead of backwards.

I am sure Martin Luther King Jr. would say about the U.S. election this year. It is not about the colour or gender it is about who will do the best for the people of the country.

Yea!!! Thank you Techs at Oprah.com. I am once again able to write in my blog."B-)".

I know it is frustrating for you, as it takes a lot of looking for the error in programming, and my guess is; you have many servers to accommodate the thousands of members who blog or join discussion groups and many bloggers like myself who sent numerous emails to answer.

Anyway here's a hearty THANK YOU!!!!":^0"
