Having Seen Many Ideas Come To Life

Posted on Dec 27, 2007 12:56 PM

I wonder! I wonder if an author who had an idea for a book way back in 1960 and said that he was going to lock it away for 50 years. That would mean the year 2010 would be the year he unlocks where he has hidden it.

I don't remember his name only that he didn't think kids had an imagination when almost everyone had a television. So he asked a group of new grade one students to draw pictures of what they thought the future would be.

I was one of those fortunate ones to be asked and like every child my parents gave their consent for him to use it when he needed it. I think he would now be his late 70's or 80's.

People may think I was special because I said a lot of things using everybody's drawings. The only reason I could say so many things is that I was privileged to have met many people working on those ideas. I have seen many come into being and I am thankful to have witnessed their hard work for the benefit of us all.

There must have been 25 to 30 others with me to describe their pictures. Not only did the author have a camera but also a whole cloakroom of people and people outside the windows.

The reason I remember is because of the cadillac that was buried for nearly 50 years was unlocked this year. Who knows what next year will bring back from the past.

The One Day that a War Stopped for a few minutes

Posted on Dec 25, 2007 11:48 AM

It is something someone told me that during the First World War it is said that soldiers on opposite sides stopped fighting for a few minutes on this day at midnight and actually gave each other food.

Everyone seems to celebrate the holidays. The month of December is Hannakah, Christmas, and the start of the journey to Mecca. No wonder all kinds of people enjoy December. The one month that people in countries of freedom are able to celebrate

A lot of times the season becomes overwhelming with commercialism. Only many people have lost loved ones and no material gift can replace a person. Those people seem to like to be alone and then you realize all they want is that others remember.

The one day that is remembered for different reasons.

A Young Man Who's Vision Will Live On

Posted on Dec 15, 2007 6:23 AM

On the news last night the reporter reported a passing away of a young man who was trying to change the image of his community. He had made a documentary and was hoping to have it shown in a film festival.

He has touched many hearts that he doesn't even know. He took that chance, opportunity to show how educated, and well mannered most people are in his community. It is usually only a few that start the bad reputation and it is only a few to change that reputation into a good one.

I am sure he'll be missed and not forgotten. He left behind his vision.

Snow

Posted on Dec 2, 2007 1:45 PM

Overnight the city had its first major snowfall. To wake up in the morning to see clean crisp white everywhere. Snow is so pretty when it first falls on the ground.

To sit and lookout the window with a warm cup of java and meditate on life itself. One of the cats on the top of the backrest and the other on the side arm, both with smiles. The dog is sleeping in front of the chair, also with a smile.

The moment ends when you need to shovel the snow. Then it is no longer all white, now the colours of the earth are shown. The grey black of the cement driveway. The little bit of green from the grass on the edges and the fallen leaves with their pretty yellows, red, and orange.

Once the snow is shoveled it is back to the window and chair with the one cat on the backrest and the other on the side arm, plus the dog once again sleeping in front of the chair. Another cup of java and some christmas music to listen to and now the many vehicles that slowly pass in front of the window.

Is life just passing by, or am I thinking of what next to do, or am I resting my weary bones from all the shoveling. "B-)"
