Viewer's Vote: What's YOUR all-time favorite Oprah show performance?

Posted on Apr 2, 2009 1:44 PM

I want to hear from all of you fans out there -- what is your all-time favorite performance you've seen on the Oprah Show?

I'm working on a show with our most jaw-dropping performances from the last 5 years, and I'm counting on you to let me know your BEST OF THE BEST!

Could your favorite be when Bon Jovi brought the fans to their feet -- or David Blaine kept us on the edge of our seats (one producer couldn't even watch as it was happening, she was so nervous she had to leave the building!)

How about Paul Potts -- the YouTube sensation who won Britain's Got Talent? Seriously, that voice just gives me chills!

Or what about when Criss Angel had the entire audience in awe? Or seeing Faith Hill and Tim McGraw perform together and you could just feel the love? Could your favorite be when we took the show to Las Vegas -- seeing icons Tina and Cher on the same stage -- or Celine's incredible show with Cirque du Soleil?

So -- now here's my confession for my all-time favorite...growing up in the 70's, I was OBSESSED (and i don't use that term lightly) -- with The Donny and Marie Show. I had the records, didn't miss one darn episode, had the dolls with the purple outfits, memorized every single song...and had the poster of Donny that I blew a kiss at before I went to sleep every night. As the oldest sister, there was about a 2-year period when i could actually bully my brother into doing whatever I wanted -- and what did I want? To perform a "show" every time my grandparents visited -- with the finale being...wait for it...

"A Little Bit Country, and A Little Bit Rock and Roll."

I would drag my little brother out every time, he would sing the Donny part and i would sing the Marie part!! I loved every minute of it! (For my brother, it pretty much was 30 minutes of torture, not to mention the cruel hours of rehearsal i made him go through). My grandparents would applaud loudly, I would take a bow, and my brother would storm off to his room for the rest of the night.

Last year when 100 OSMONDS REUNITED here at Harpo Studios and Donny and Marie performed that song -- I felt like I was 9-years old all over again...singing the song at the top of my lungs from my office!

Now it's your turn -- what performance had you dancing in your living room -- singing in your kitchen -- jumping up and applauding -- completely mesmerized -- or made your ACTUAL JAW DROP?! It's your chance to get to see it one more time...so let me know!

I too was an Osmond fan- but really just DONNY! Purple was and is my fav color b/c of then! I still remember my albums and singing and swooning to Donny! No one like him for me when I was a kid!

I have to say though my favorite performance was the Rascal Flatts and Jamie Foxx singing- Oprah was surprised too. I love the song they sang! It was awesome.

Still hope to be in the audience one of these days. I'll keep calling and trying to get tickets! Striking out so far!

Thanks for asking our opinions. (I remember singing the song "Puppy Love" and thinking about Donny Osmond as a kid!) How hilarious for me as an almost 50 year old woman to still remember that. shhhhh don't tell anyone- especially all my teenage kids!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

My favorite Oprah show was with Tina Turner. That women is an inspiration to women and men alike. She is real and flawed and a success. She still has "it" after all these years. It is fun to watch Oprah in awe of Tina. Oprah on stage with Tina is awesome. That show makes me smile and dance and want to do my best.

I have 2. One was when O was interviewing bartenders and hair stylists. The hair stylist had issues with women who had 3 sprigs of hair basically and expected "Diana Ross"!

The other was..although I dont recall what the show was about, but somehow O had an issue with how toilet paper is hung. I think O prefers it to roll forward or something. Anyways a studio audience member shouts out that the ladies room toilet paper was not situated the way O likes it..lol

OOPs..I just realized its about "performances" and I wrote about favorite show moments..oh well..in my book they were performances too!

I enjoyed Brad Pitt. I also thought John Travolta on Oprah's Birthday was absolutely the best! I miss John Travolta. I wonder when she's going to have him on the Show again?

yep. mee too. my fav performance would have been Brittney maybe. I am not a huge fan of hers, but I really enjoyed the performance on Oprah. Or Jennifer Hudson. The first time. She was incredible.

The best show I can remember Oprah doing in the past five years, was the Tina/Cher show in Vegas. It was so incredibly entertaining to see three great women on stage together.

If you are ever able to use another 31yo TV finance guy who likes to workout, cook, eat, swim and enjoys long walks on the beach :) on one of your shows, please let me know!

I work full time and just got DVR so I can record all the Oprah shows. So I haven't seen all the performances. I wish Justin Timberlake would perform on Oprah's show. Just saw him on the show recently and really liked him as a person. Would like Oprah to spend more time with him, get his perspective on things and hear his newest and latest. Then perhaps that will be a "greatest". It would also be interesting to have her talk to Michael Jackson....I wonder what she thinks about him. I know she tries not to judge anyone. I look forward to all the oprah shows. K

I don't remember what the name of the gorup was, but they were the dancing people who made art work and formed words with their bodies. The same show where the dancers clothes changed while they were dancing. Amazing! What was so wonderful was seeing Oprah authentically enjoying herself watching that show.

Bon Jovi was great, too! I'm 42 so I'm the mom who LOVES John Bon Jovi!

my favorite oprah show time are inviting the kids and the parents, give a gift, and with chef jamie. its fun and I learn about it. Like invite the kids who are talented at the young age. Wow its amazing how talented they are. then the time that their are parents and their kids on the plane just ready to oprah show. I can see their face so excited and happy. Also how exciting gave a gift program. How they help to people that really need it it touches myheart....

There are many shows that were great and it is hard to say that one was outstanding compared to others.Perhaps--I would go by issues.I like issue oriented programs with celebrity association and simple discussion of complicated health issues which you can't get it from your doctor because of time limitation.

I loved when Mary J. Blige was on Oprah. Not only is she a terrific performer, but it was WONDERFUL to see Mary J. so HAPPY!!!!

Okay since this is about performances I would have to say: Bon Jovi. He is just an incredible inspriration.

David Blaine and the Body Contourtionist were great also.

Cirque du Soleil was also great. I'm still waiting for Brad Pitt, and John Travolta! (smile)

Mine is earlier than the last five years, but still holds relavance to today. It's the New Kids on the Block. They were on the Oprah show almost 20 years ago, and would make a great NEW best performance moment for today. They have reunited and are in the midst of a crazy tour. Their album is titled "The Block" and every song is current and maybe not the sound you would expect if you'd listened to them 15-20 years ago. They are also doing a Fan Cruise where they have rented a Carribean Cruise Liner and sold 2000 tickets for a weekend cruise to include them and their fans. I have been a fan of theirs for many years, and I believe they have come full circle in an industry that had writen them off. Now they are back!

Felicity Huffman singing backup to Tina Turner in 2005, that was cool, as well as the "Quick Change" artists David and Dania from Feb 07. Although not a music performance, Oprah playing Deal or No Deal, I replayed that on my Tivo for days

Without question... A tiny 4"11" 15 year old Philippino girl who just blew the doors off a Whitney Huston song. I couldn't believe the power, range and confidence she had... just couldn't believe it!!

Turns out I wasn't alone, since she's now being handled by Oprah and David Foster who know real talent and potential when they see it!

CHARICE PEMPENGCO... remember that name.

Jim Carry setting up the photo with Jennifer Aniston, Oprah, and some audience members had me cracking up. I laugh just thinking about it. He is so funny.
