Late Night

Posted on Mar 18, 2009 11:50 PM

The best time to write a script is late at night - no phone, no e-mail, no sleep! That's what I'm doing right now. Well, actually I'm procrastinating. I figure I could update my blog or fill out my NCAA bracket. You'd think being one of the few men around here I'd have an advantage, but these women know their hoops. And they trash talk! I'm working on Friday's show. I can't say too much, but there is going to be a fun little surprise. Maybe I've already said too much..... But I'm sure my secret's safe with you. I interviewed Kelly Clarkson today. Gotta love her. She couldn't be more down to earth, but she's from Texas so she complained about our Chicago weather. We'll talk in January. I also spoke to Jenny McCarthy. She's from Chicago so all she wanted to talk about was pizza. I also talked to Dr. Oz, who had me hold a human brain. That was a first. Just your average day at the office I guess. Anyway, back to my script. Thanks for listening!

Eric your days sound so boring - ha! Kelly Clarkson, Jennie McCarthy and a human brain, maybe I should be you for a day and you can be me (smile). You will get to juggle a very active two year-old who loves high heels, purses and swimming like a fish. I think it is fascinating being able to hear what the producers of The Oprah Winfrey Show work on. I can only imagine how difficult the job can be, but look at the things you get to do and the people you get to meet. I'm jealous. Good luck with your script. Can't wait to hear the secrets on Fridays show (smile). Hope you're enjoying some sunshine in Chicago today.

I loved the time you spent on the show today showing the clip from ELLEN about her being on the cover of O. Ellen was so jazzed to reach her goal :).

Wishing you lots of great ideas!

You need to strike a deal with Ellen Degeneres-- IF she wants on the cover of O, then she needs to fly to Chicago and do a Friday's Live show with the others

Eric:

You make me want to get back to producing! I actually used to dream about doing the what you do for the Oprah Show! To be honest, it is still there.

I look forward to reading your blogs. Keep the Faith!

I know no one talks like this on here, but i'm stepping out on faith that someone will hear me, i'm a residential and commercial broker my business is very slow and all my savings was drained with me trying to hold on to lease properties that my company acquired, thru it all i've been holding on for over a year with a deal coming in here and there but not enough to keep me from facing my worst night-mare being homeless i have 2 teenage daughters 14 and 16 that i always been able to provide a great life for but now i'm so scared that friday the 27th of march i wouldn't have a place to live and the saddest part about it is i don't have any money to go any where. I spent so much time trying to make money with no money and i have to say thats impossible, i'm a very smart woman , that made some bad decisions doing these hard times and the decisions we make sets us up for our future. I'm filled with hurt and pain now just thinking back on how different my life was just a year ago.

ew, not sure I would have the stomach to hold a human brain - even with gloves lol.

on a related note, and on a related note to dr oz's smart patient movement, could the oprah show please please please do a show on the arachnoid cyst community? an arachnoid cyst is technically a benign tumor that one can get on their brain and/or spine. it's quite debilitating (in some cases) but unfortuntely due to ignorance of the medical community, it's often dismissed as nothing and psychosomatic. How can so many people with the same cyst - have the same symptoms and it's nothing? This would make for a great show not just for the ac community, but for all those people who are genuinely ill but are facing discrimination in the medical community.

Eric: I can empathize with the late night script writing. I'm a lawyer in Salt Lake. I wrote a script in 6 days over the last Christmas holiday...only time in 2 years I've had time off to do it. I gave Oprah a line in my script. I also have one of the few male Oprah Winfrey Show producers as a character in the story. Want to read it? It's based on a true story, and will require Oprah, Robert Duvall and Jack Black to attach to have any chance. Then again, Oprah makes miracles happen. The producer character in the script is involved in one of the fictional parts of the story, but the character I've written reminds me of you. I didn't know that when I wrote it. Let me know if you have interest. I'll check back here.

thankyou

thank you for all that you do

Please tell Oprah to stop interrupting people - it is so rude!

Oprah mentioned that she was going to have Susan Boyle on her show. I hope that she takes it to the next level and really assists Susan in finding the sensational woman behind her sensational voice. Some of the greatest singers have gotten a make-over and it has changed their careers overnight. If Susan is going to win (and win over the male voters as well) a make-over would be the smartest thing for her to do.

Some say that part of her charm is the way that she looks right now but not really.....its simply her voice that is so mesmerizing and beautiful (otherwise, she would have already been discovered/promoted).

Can't you imagine what she would look like with Oprah's touch (new hair style and color, facial, new make-up, and new appropriate "star quality" outfits (like she would wear if she were to perform at the Opera or at the Grammy's). Can't you imagine SIMON's face? Susan hasn't won Britian's talent show just yet but with a little help from Oprah(on the make-over - and woman-to-woman) as her American 'Sister' - she will soar even higher (she so deserves to win)!!!

Eric...how fortunate you are to work with the most influential daily media person and working somewhere that you can feel secure.

Hi Eric! Thank you for all you do. I saw you on the show when Oprah told Ellen that she was going to be on the cover of O. That was a great idea! Oprah is such an inspirational person and I hope that you and the staff keep coming up with great ideas!
Oprah likes to know things that change people's lives and for that reason I'd like to share something with you. I am legally blind, I have glau coma, and when I was a kid I had over 23 surgeries at a local children's hospital. Last year, I got a new lease on life when I recieved a pair of glasses that allowed me to see new things for the very first time in my life. I saw stars in the night sky, facial expressions, street signs, license plates, the list goes on. I know you have long days but if you could find it in your heart to check out a video on my youtube channel "xxclassic08" for only 3 minutes and 18 seconds. The video is called "Can Anyone see this video?" and it shows the lasting difference these glasses will have for my life.
Thanks again for all you do!
