I had seen your blog earlier, but didn't reply. After washing the makeup from my face and returning to the computer, I thought I might share what works for me. I'm 60 and have been following the same routine for almost a decade now; maybe even longer. I've never used department store products, just drug store types. Over the years I've simplified my facial ritual to Cetaphil wash morning and night.

In the morning, I use Cetaphil's facial moisturizer that has a sunblock to prevent UV rays from harming my skin. Around my eyes, I use something like a Neutrogena eye cream. Currently I'm using an eye cream made from grape seed called "Merlot." The product line was created by a dermatologist and it's sold in Walgreen Drug Stores.

At night, I normally use the Cetaphil facial moisturizer. But lately I've been trying to use up a soy based night cream that I'd bought a while ago and forgot I had. Like you, I don't like wasting money. Again, I use the "Merlot" eye cream. Pretty basic routine, right?

In addition to what I put on top of my skin, I am on a weight loss program of my own concoction. You can see it on my blogsite. I call it the "patchwork quilt" weight loss program. It includes tips from various other sources that I've pooled into one. It seems to be working for me. The reason I mention it is I'm positive that what I'm putting into my body, like 8 glasses of water, 3 cups of green tea, blueberries, oat bran, fiber, veggies and fruits, as well as what I'm NOT eating, like sugar is also contributing to good skin quality for my age. Recently, my chiropractor commented on how good my face looked. Hearing that made me feel a decade younger!

I'd recommend reading Dr. Nicholas Perricone's books, specifically the one on anti-aging. As a NY dermatologist, he shares insightful information about skin and aging, both from the outside and the inside. I couldn't follow his diet because I found it too restrictive. But I took his advice about cutting out sugar. As a result the pain from arthritis in my fingers and lower back abated considerably.

Maybe this will help you but if not, I hope you find something that does. Good luck...hugmamma.

Thank you so much for takeing the time to reply to me . I know it is some where to start and great advise too. Your so kind. God Bless
