5/26 - 5/31 (stayed at hotel, exercised every day but made bad food choices..skip weigh in today)

May discontinue here and just blog on message boards.

Week 4...(bootcamp wk 3, 5/18 - 5/24)

Weighed in and measured this morning. CW: 202.....-3/4" waist.....-3/4" hips

5/18...40 mins......6157 steps....1400 cals...cardio, lower body stretch

5/19...67 mins......7608 steps....1700 cals...cardio, lower body strength and pilates

5/20... 88 mins...12920 steps....1060 cals...cardio, upper body strength

5/21....78 mins...13646 steps....1100 cals...cardio, core, lower body strength

5/22... 75 mins...12240 steps....1730 cals...cardio (did lower body in error yesterday)

5/24....had buffet dinner tonight...did the best I could and hope weigh in shows no gain.

5/11: Couldn't believe I didn't lose any inches off my waist so remeasured and weighed in first thing this morning. Results..-1" off waist, -1.25" off hips and down another pound (204). Now that's more like it.

Joined a 28 day bootcamp challenge...5/4-5/31. Measured my hips, waist and weighed in. My goal is to lose 8-10 lbs this month and take off a few inches. Keeping a weekly record of workout mins, steps logged, calories consumed, brief description of workout and wt loss as it happens.

Week 1...4/27-5/3

Found a weightloss website and been looking around and doing lots of reading. Decided to use a pedometer and log my workout mins, distance and total steps. Not setting any particulars as to how much or how long, which always gets me down if I don't follow thru...so I think that for now, I'm going to take it one day at a time.

4/27...got sidetracked this morning but eventually made time to get on the treadmill, after 11 mins I wanted off but I told myself "4 more mins at a brisk pace and then I can cool down", which helped me get that mile. So today.... 21 mins.....1 mile.....4461 total steps and a woohoo for doing SOMETHING!

4/28...rough day, had to force myself to walk in place watching tv just to get moving......25 mins....1.2 miles....6621 total steps and just glad I made it happen.

4/29...nada on working out and feeling like a failure again. Total steps 3967, tomorrow has to get better. I need to ask for support...going to post on the boards tonight.

4/30...Walking and upper body toning first thing this morning and I have renewed faith in myself thanks to the encouraging words from my team mates and you know who you are...{{{HUGS}}} So today.....36 mins.....1.8 miles....5735 total steps

5/1...Felt great doing cardio this morning, decided to include abs and upper body strength......59 mins...2.74 miles.....10,476 total steps...FINALLY hit the big 10,000 and I'm going to reward myself with a pedicure.

5/2...this morning a short interval training workout and a short walk on treadmill in the eve....29 mins......? miles.......7,093 total steps

side note: weighed myself this morning, down 2 lbs, now at 208 lbs...wooohooo!!!

5/3...another interval training but longer than yesterday......45 mins......2.24 miles.......8480 total steps

READY TO CHANGE!

After 14 years of constantly losing the battle of the bulge, I pretty much threw in the towel and said what the hell. Ate to my hearts content, stopped working out and just let things be. Deep inside I knew I was headed in the wrong direction but I was so sick and tired of all the dieting and deprivation, gluttony and laziness was a welcomed relief.

A few years later, I hit 200 lbs...something I told myself I'd never let happen but I kept eating like there was no tomorrow and added another 11 lbs. Although I avoided full length mirrors, seeing my face getting rounder, my double chin becoming one continuous chin and looking older than my years...there was no hiding it anymore. Not only was I obese, but I looked it....not overweight, not fat, but flat out obese.

Being in my early fifties and weighing in at 211 lbs, I know that a heart attack, stroke, diabetes, osteoporosis and a whole slew of other ailments are just waiting to happen and is constantly in the back of my mind. Getting healthy is not an option anymore. On April 27, 2008, I've decided to stop with the self destruction and work my way back to health. No more "dieting" or depriving myself. It's all about healthy choices most of the time, exercise, allowing for small indulgences and small setbacks and lots of patience. I'm ready to change...
