Imagine a sugar cube dissolving in a warm glass of water. This is an image I have when I contemplate the dissolving of consciousness. Basically, anything unconscious dissolves when you shine the light of consciousness on it. Considering the aforementioned analogy, the sugar cube symbolizes 'thinking' and the accompaning resistence exemplified through your discontent, your judgemental attitudes, and mental projections, which collectively take you literally away from this very instant, the Now, which is all we have. The sugar cube also represents, on an 'emotional' level, those undercurrents of unease, boredom, nervousness, and tension, which are all too often, you daily companions. There is nobody living here right now, and that's about 6.7 billion souls, who is exempt from this. So, what can the average Joe, or Jane, do about this? It's really quite simple friends. Just learn to monitor your mental and emotional states through self-observation. It is essential that you become interested in what's happening on the inside first. This is primary. The outside becomes secondary to this. Why? Because when your inside is right, your outside will fall into place. So, look inside! Ask, how am I feeling, and what type of thoughts is my mind producing? With practice, and it does take practice for most of us, your ability to detect low level uneasiness, that irritating background static, which interfers with the clear light of consciousness, will I promise, if you really want it with all your heart, sharpen , often dramatically. If you're not into drama, that's okay (smile). Comedy works wonders!...peace, habsonfire
