The Four Roadblocks

Posted on Apr 20, 2009 11:25 AM

Hey all,

Here are the four main reasons (Roadblocks) why women don't do what's necessary for their breast health:

FEAR: Many women are afraid of breast cancer. When it comes down to it, fear occurs because of a lack of knowledge. In order to get over the fear, you need to know the disease and take active steps in checking your breasts regularly.

DENIAL: Many people think, "This could never happen to me, I have no family history," or "I'm too young to develop breast cancer." Ignoring the possibility of the disease definitely does not prevent it. Remember, early detection is our best weapon against breast cancer, so take an active approach toward your breast health.

NO TIME: Everyone is pressed for time these days. Whether we have to have to drop the kids off at school, work extra hours at home, or clean up after diner, we are always wondering how we are going to get everything done that we need to do. However, checking your breasts regularly only takes a few minutes, and you only need a mammogram once a year. By staying on top of your breast health, you are saving MUCH more time in the long run, God forbid you ever have to face brease cancer.

LACK OF KNOWLEDGE: If you don't know what to do, or how to do it, there is no way you can take charge of your breast health. There is information everywhere about the disese, and what to do to stay healthy. It only takes a few moments to find the info, and once you know it you never need to find it again :D

So please don't let these roadblocks stop you from TAKING CHARGE of your breast health! Early detection is crucial, and can help save your life. Acknowledging the disease, and educating ourselves about what to do, is already more than half the battle. So take a few minutes for your breasts, and I promise you won't regret it!

With Love,

GHFairy

Dear GHFairy,
I have a long over due mammogram that's not scheduled yet. I have to see my primary care doctor before getting it done. These are the rules of the Veteran's Administration Facility. Thanks for the reminder

I'm glad I could be of help :) If only I could remind every woman!
