Kickin' It with Kirstie
November 04, 2009 12:07 PM
I love talking to people about food. I can't help it. I'm a little obsessed with finding something new to munch on. Let's face it, raw almonds are b.o.r.i.n.g. There are only so many a woman can take.

So, when Kirstie Alley was here for a show taping I jumped on the opportunity to ask her about a few of her favorite foods. Kirstie, who is launching a new reality show next year about her path to better health, is constantly in the tabloids about her weight. I can't imagine living under that kind of a microscope. To her credit, she handles it all with quick wit and charm.

Here's what Kirstie had to say …
On keeping meals interesting:
I like to use salsa in different ways. And, in my new weight loss program which is going to be launching in January we do "pump up your plate" so it's, you know, you put salad and a bunch of greens and things [on your plate] and you pour chili over it -- so you have a lot of volume.

On her favorite snacks:
Freezing fruits [like] bananas, grapes. Freezing things is good and fun. And, pomegranates. You sit there while you're watching TV and you peel them and you scrape out all the things in a bowl.  Get a big bowl of them and keep it in the refrigerator and then you just scoop it up. It's so good and so yummy.

What she avoids:
I don't use synthetic things like [artificial whipped topping] or those kinds of things.
