How to Decorate on a Budget
  • Put in a little legwork, and you'll save a lot of money. Shop bargain basements, online, and in catalogs to find some great deals.
  • Stores like Home Depot and Ikea often have low-priced knockoffs of designer items.
  • Need art? A budget-conscious solution is to go through old art books and pull out images you like. Put them in a frame (Nate found his for less than $20 at Cost Plus World Market) and you're all set!
  • Be creative. Nate used a blanket from Ikea to upholster luggage stands. The end result is a great pair of antique-looking benches.
  • You might be able to find designer discounts online. Try sites like eBay and Bluefly.com, which often carry sumptuous Frette linens.
