Love is in the air, and Holly and Rodney are preparing to out-do one another on Valentine's Day with gifts and little surprises. The Peetes say Valentine's Day is usually a pretty fun holiday around their house, and listeners call in to share their stories about the over-the-top romantic gestures and absolute bombs they've experienced on Valentine's Day.
Plus, the Peetes talk with Dr. Jerry Kartzinel, the doctor treating their autistic son, R.J., about the impact raising an autistic child can have on a couple's marriage. Between behavioral issues and medical care, Dr. Kartzinel says raising an autistic child can be exhausting. Many couples cannot cope with the stress, and some end up divorcing, he says. "The main thing that I always encourage our couples to do is still to somehow carve out a date night, keep the romantic side of their life active, go out on dates and do things they use to do, even if it is just once a month," he says.
