Women Empowered Against Violence (WEAVE) received an Angel Network award in conjunction with the "Live Your Best Life" 2005 tour. WEAVE works closely with adult and teen survivors of relationship violence and abuse, providing an innovative range of legal, counseling, economic and educational services that lead survivors to utilize their resources, achieve safety for themselves and their children, and lead empowered lives.
WEAVE was founded on the premise that a woman trying to escape from domestic violence should be able to turn to one organization and get every kind of help she needs in order to leave their abusive situation. Comprehensive programs provide immediate shelter, services related to legal issues, childcare, transitional housing, job training, health insurance and more. Of special note is the Women's Economic Development Fund, providing one-on-one financial management, credit advocacy, and mini loans to enable survivors to get a financial foothold or to leverage opportunities. In 2003, WEAVE assisted more than 6,000 survivors.
