The Rose Brooks Center received an Angel Network award in conjunction with the "Hi Gorgeous!" 2004 tour. What started in 1978 as a 24-hour crisis line for victims of domestic abuse became a 24-hour shelter for battered women and their children. The Rose Brooks Center now serves nearly 10,000 women and children each year through domestic violence prevention programs in Kansas City, Missouri.
Rose Brooks Center gives women and children the opportunity to build their self-esteem and self-sufficiency and get out from under the shadow of domestic abuse.
Major programs include:
Project SAFE, a 24-hour abuse crisis hot line
Outreach Therapy for women, men and families
Domestic Violence Intervention Program in three area hospital emergency rooms
The Bridge Program which provides court advocacy, emergency shelter and transitional housing.
